Robert Yang is one of the original members of Honey Soundsystem and has released various records on Dark Entries records and Honey Soundsystem’s flagship label. Over the course of the last few years he has been perfecting a live music performance that he has taken across various parts of the US and Europe.
As Bézier Robert writes hooks, patterns and melodies in an automatic, stream of consciousness fashion. Memory and ‘lost time’ play a big part in constructing his music. Influences range from the futuristic landscape of Syd Mead to the melodically charged energy of Patrick Cowley and the subdued, hidden motifs of My Bloody Valentine’s “Loveless.” Bezier’s studio set up includes a variety of vintage Roland and Korg synthesizers as well as the Italo Disco favorite LinnDrum.
A multi-instrumentalist, Robert was trained in saxophone starting at age 10, before moving onto a Fender Telecaster after high school. After exposure to Southern California raves in the late 90s he moved onto turntables and record collecting. By the time he firmly planted his roots in San Francisco in 2005 Robert built a fully realized analog synthesizer based studio in San Francisco which drives the majority of his musical output today in addition to being his main creative hub to power his live musical shows.
