After more than a decade DJing other people’s records in dark rooms all over the globe, in 2004 Shit Robot – aka Dubliner Marcus Lambkin – finally departed his adopted New York home for a small country town outside of Stuttgart, where he got on with the overdue task of releasing his own music.
After a series of club 12”s, Lambkin released his debut album, ‘From The Cradle To The Rave’ in late 2010. With guests including James Murphy, Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip and Nancy Wang, the 10-track record was described as a “great bleep forward” by the Guardian and “something special” by Pitchfork, and sealed with a nice 7.1.
In 2011, Lambkin introduced The Shit Robot Show, his first live AV offering. TSRS has lit up clubs and festivals the world over, including prime slots at Electric Picnic, Nuits Sonores, Lovebox, SXSW and more.
His second LP, ’We Got A Love’, landed in 2014, with Lidell Townsell, Museum of Love, Reggie Watts and Nancy featuring. Pitchfork called it “a solid set of impeccably produced club jams, all rinsed through an atmosphere that’s never less than jubilant”.
His off-schedule 2015 single, ‘Where It’s At’ became something of a sleeper hit, both in it’s original version and the crucial Jonny Aux remix. He rounded off 2015 with a release on Stuttgart label, KitJen.
January 2016 sees the release of quickfire club 12” ‘OB-8’/‘Torpedo’ on DFA, which was debuted on Tim Sweeney’s Beats in Space, before the arrival of his third album, ‘What Follows’, on DFA/PIAS in April. The nine-tracker features guests Alexis Taylor, Nancy Whang, New Jackson, Museum Of Love and Jay Green. Alexis guests on opening single ‘End Of The Trail’, which is released in March with a Roman Flugel remix.
